Sheffield massive

An old pic of a stanage inversion.

As always, it has been too long, 3 years this time, but the smiling faces and warm embraces make it feel like no time has passed at all. Catching up over a nice pint of bitter, seeing what everyone has been upto has been a joy and with Christmas still to come and the promise of better weather, the weeks ahead are full of possibilities. I'm staying with my English family, the whittakers in their new home, which is amazing. To me, this is what life is all about, family, friends, eating, drinking, conversation and, of course, climbing.
The weather hasn't been ideal, but with some jet lag and a lack of grunt, training in the works has seen some quick improvement. We had a great day at the plantation on Wednesday, where we got most of the band back together, including mein hosts, the Gritstone legend, Diego and the corndog. Beautiful light and a few problems that I hadn't done before made it a memorable afternoon.
So, for the time being it's eating, drinking and Christmas cheer, then Spain, Portugal and Switzerland to complete the trip... I hope all of you have a safe and happy Christmas, as well as a fantastic new year. Peace out...
